What Is Self-Marma — And Why You Might Want to Learn It
Do you wish you had simple tools to support yourself between acupuncture sessions or other treatments? Marma therapy is a traditional Ayurvedic practice, similar in some ways to acupressure, that uses gentle touch on specific points of the body to support health, encourage energy flow, and ease tension.
It's a practice that asks very little of you — just your own hands, your attention, and a few minutes of your day.
This June, our in-house Ayurvedic Health Counselor Emilie Berger is offering Attune, Regulate, Integrate: A Self-Acupressure Journey — a 3-part series designed to introduce you to self-marma as a simple, accessible practice you can weave into daily life.
What to expect
Each session builds on the last, helping you develop a personal self-care ritual rooted in knowledge and awareness. Through the lens of Ayurveda, you'll learn how to work with your own body in a steady, grounded way — supporting regulation, clarity, and ease without overwhelm.
Session 1 — Attune: Foundations of Balance + Your Daily Practice You'll explore core concepts of Ayurveda and the five elements, how patterns of stress and emotion show up through the body, and how marma points work as subtle access points for supporting vitality. You'll leave with a foundational home practice.
Session 2 — Regulate: Nervous System + Steadiness We return to your foundational practice and deepen it — working with key marmani of the head, hands, and feet for calming and centering. You'll explore breath, attention, and touch together, with optional aromatherapy to deepen the sensory experience.
Session 3 — Integrate: Digestion + Personal Ritual In this final session, we weave everything together. You'll work with marmani of the chest, abdomen, and legs to support grounding and digestion, and begin shaping a personal practice that feels intuitive and sustainable.
Who this series is for
This series is open to both beginners and those already familiar with body-based healing modalities. It will be held in a very small, intimate group of just six participants — offering a quiet, personalized learning experience in our Garden Suite.
